Meeting the Needs of the Whole Person
St. Francis Healthcare System believes spiritual care is essential to health and wellness regardless of a person’s faith or religious beliefs. That’s why spiritual care is integrated in all that we do.
Our Spiritual Care team includes chaplains (priests and sisters) and lay people who believe that spiritual care is integral to healing and health. They provide pastoral care to all patients, while being respectful of their religious beliefs. Chaplains offer pastoral support to patients as they grieve the loss of life or health and celebrate with patients as they rejoice in the gift of life or restored health.
By focusing on the health of the whole person, spiritual care can enhance an individual’s well-being. The Spiritual Care team follows the example of Jesus as healer and teacher, reaching out to those of all religions and cultural values. Services include visits to inpatients, prayers, sacraments, education, pastoral care, and bereavement support to families following the death of a loved one.
