Aloha!
It’s a new year, with new opportunities to explore, and new challenges to overcome. The St. Francis Healthcare System team is ready to serve and make 2017 another milestone year of achievements in delivering health, healing and wellness for Hawaii’s families.
Saint Marianne Cope and the Sisters of St. Francis have entrusted us with a healthcare ministry that serves all those who cross our path – seniors, caregivers and everyone else in the family. Our mission is to create healthy communities and we know that starts with healthy families. When we make caring for the entire family a priority we know that, ultimately, this translates into creating healthy communities.
This year, we will see more progress on the St. Francis Kūpuna Village. You can also expect to see more programs designed to support seniors and caregivers.
With the positive response to our caregiver training and education classes last year, we are continuing these valuable sessions into 2017. A full complement of classes is already planned for the first quarter.
As one of three nonprofit recipients selected to participate in Aloha United Way’s Active Aging Initiative, St. Francis Healthcare System will also unveil more details on our enhanced wellness program to help keep seniors in our community healthy and engaged.
Our program is modeled after programs with successful outcomes to help kūpuna maintain their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health by working with a health mentor, who offers ongoing encouragement along with personalized feedback and monitoring. It’s an exciting program based on sound research. We owe it to our elders to give them the best quality of life.
It’s going to be an exciting year. Like Saint Marianne, we are hungry for the sacred work of serving others. We look forward to partnering with others and reaching more families in 2017!
Mahalo,
