Mahalo to the more than 500 registered walkers and 130 volunteers who participated in the 4th Annual Saint Marianne Cope Walk on Saturday, January 28, 2017, to benefit the St. Francis Kūpuna Village!
The event included a three-mile walk from Magic Island to Kewalo Basin Park and back. Along the way, walkers honored Saint Marianne, placing flowers at her statue at Kewalo Basin Park.
The event also included a family wellness fair with educational health information from various companies and community and government organizations, and entertainment by comedian Frank De Lima.
All of the proceeds from the walk will support the new St. Francis Kūpuna Village, a one-stop health and wellness center for seniors, caregivers and other family members, located in the heart of Liliha.
The St. Francis Kūpuna Village already features a skilled nursing facility at Liliha. Next on the drawing board is a senior center, where seniors can enjoy educational, social and recreational activities together. Future plans include an adult day care program, an assisted living facility with a wing dedicated to serving the Sisters of St. Francis, and an independent living community.
