St. Francis Hospice recently received the following letters of gratitude from family members of our hospice patients. They are shared with their permission:
Dear St. Francis Hospice:
It’s been a year since my mother’s passing and although we miss her greatly, as time passes, the pain and grief eases.
My siblings and I want to thank all of you for the loving care and tenderness given to her in her last days, and for for keeping in touch with us.
Mahalo & Aloha,
Arlene Pestana and family
Dear St. Francis Hospice:
We wish to extend our deep appreciation and thanks for your help and services provided to make our Joyce comfortable the past months. Your staff were truly wonderful. Your night nurses were extremely helpful. Thanks to nurse Fe and Napua. Again, thank you very much.

Dear. St. Francis Hospice and Staff,
The family of the late Walter Shizuma Rabacal Sr. would like to say a BIG MAHALO to Social Workers Airy Mae and Brandee Alboro, Nurses Cheryl Gray and Young Yoon, and your extended staff for the excellent service provided to Walter and our family during his short journey back to our Lord. From the onset, every person we spoke and worked with provided much patience, love, compassion and understanding in guiding us through the hospice process. It certainly takes special people to do this type of work and we commend all of you for a job well done. We apologize if we inadvertently missed mentioning anyone’s name.
We especially want to thank Father Victor Lanuevo and Father Raymon Ellorin, who performed the Anointing of the Sick and prayed and served Holy Communion to Walter for the last seven months of his life. We know that Walter loved the Lord and the he felt great comfort and peace inside. The Wake Service, Funeral Mass and Burial were beautiful Celebrations of Walter’s Life.
We are also most appreciative that St. Francis Hospice was able to place Walter into Aloha Nursing Rehab Centre, as they provided the most wonderful care. Taking care of him was challenging at times and we know that it take very special people to provide the kind of service he required and received.
Thank you, thank you to all of you for your compassion, dedication and loving attitude. We will always remember all of you and what you did for Walter.
With much love and aloha from the Rabacal Family
