For the past 24 years, Joyce Patrick has spent countless hours volunteering to visit hospice patients at our inpatient hospice facility in Nuuanu, at Pohai Nani in Kaneohe, and in the homes of patients. She was named the 2016 Hospice Volunteer of the Year for Home Hospice.
“She truly believes the best part of what she does is to provide comfort and care to patients and their families. This is what she truly does with all her heart & soul,” said Maylynn Wong, Manager of Volunteer Programs.
If that isn’t already sweet, Joyce is an avid baker and cook, and volunteers and staff alike look forward to her weekly treats.
This Maui native has deep ties to St. Francis Healthcare System and the Sisters of St. Francis. Joyce graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, worked at Kuakini Hospital, and then worked 25 years with Pan American Airways as a flight attendant before transferring to United Airlines.
In addition to volunteering for St. Francis, Joyce has been volunteering for the past 34 years with Castle Medical Center and is still a volunteer there.
