A bequest or gift to St. Francis Healthcare Foundation in your will or living trust is a wonderful way to establish a lasting legacy for years to come. It allows you to be as generous in death as you were in life.

Life Income Gifts

A life income gift is a plan that allows you to make a contribution to St. Francis Healthcare Foundation of Hawaii and receive an income in return. Depending on the plan, the income may be fixed or variable and can go on for a lifetime, a term of years, or a combination of the two. These gifts are irrevocable once the contribution has been made. Types of life income gifts include:

A Charitable Remainder Trust provides a fixed dollar amount to the income beneficiaries.


  • Fixed dollar amount for life or a term of years
  • Immediate tax deduction
  • No capital gains taxes
  • Partially tax-free income
  • Reduced probate expenses

A Charitable Remainder Unitrust pays a fixed percentage of the value of the trust fund.


  • Variable payments for life
  • Receive more income as the trust’s value increases
  • Tax deduction equal to the present value at the time of transfer
  • Defer or possibly avoid capital gains tax

A Charitable Gift Annuity provides a guaranteed fixed income to the donor for life. Most annuities are funded with cash, securities or real estate.
