As we begin a new fiscal year at St. Francis Healthcare System this month, there is the joy of anticipation in the air. This joy comes from a deep awareness of the opportunities that are ahead of us.
There are tremendous needs in our community. Every day, we hear challenging stories, heart-wrenching stories. Families are having to face the imminent death of a loved one. Caregivers are stressed beyond measure in caring for their loved ones. People are seeking answers and comfort, but peace of mind has been elusive for them.
True to our Franciscan way of thinking, we know that for every need we will find a way to meet that need. Every day is an opportunity to provide a glimpse into the uncompromising love of God.
It has been said that Saint Francis once heard God’s voice to “Rebuild My Church.” He initially thought it was a command to rebuild the physical structure of the dilapidated San Damiano church in southeast Assisi, Italy. However, God had a bigger vision and plan for Saint Francis to influence the Church in a new way.
Today at St. Francis Healthcare System, we are launching new programs and services. We are constructing new facilities. It has been amazing to see everything unfold, but our real excitement in knowing that we are delivering a better quality of life to create healthy communities.
I would like to thank the St. Francis Healthcare System team for helping to bring about positive health outcomes for Hawaii’s families, and to all of our friends and supporters who believe we are making a difference.
This will be another great fiscal year ahead of us. There is much more we are called to do! Let’s make every word and action count to deliver quality care, and bring the gift of being fully present for others.
