Becoming a hospice volunteer can be one of life's most rewarding experiences. Hospice volunteers make a difference by providing support and companionship to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families. All volunteers go through 16 hours of classroom training followed up with an additional four hours on basic personal care. Topics include volunteer role and responsibilities; hospice goals and philosophy; communication; confidentiality; physicial, psycho-social and spiritual pain, and bereavement.
