Oct. 4 – Evening of Aloha

St. Francis Healthcare Foundation in cooperation with Hawaiian 105 KINE present an “Evening of Aloha: A tribute to the Sisters of St. Francis” on their 125th Anniversary of Hawaii.  A special concert featuring a stellar cast of Hawaii performers. Oct. 18 – Holiday Grief Workshop

This workshop is designed to give grieving persons practical tips and suggestions for dealing with grief during the holidays. Workshop includes various grief activities and lunch. Koolau Golf Club in Kaneohe, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Early registration fee:  $50. Call 547-8145 for more information.

 

Nov. 8 – Reenactment of Sisters’ Arrival in Hawaii

The Sisters of St. Francis culminate their yearlong anniversary celebration with a reenactment of Mother Marianne Cope and the first group of Sisters’ arrival in Hawaii complete with the pageantry of a royal welcome and a horse-drawn carriage through downtown Honolulu. A closing liturgy at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace and reception will follow. Noon. Call 687-3420 for more information.

 

Nov. 14 – Interdenominational Memorial Service

Family members and friends will be able to dedicate a rose in memory of their loved one at St. Francis Hospice’s “A Rose for Remembrance,” an interdenominational memorial service at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, 7 p.m.  Call 547-8145 for more information.

 

Nov. 16 – The Gifts of Grief

St. Francis Hospice presents a special screening of “The Gifts of Grief,” a documentary by Nancee Sobonya, sharing compelling personal stories of several people who have experienced deep loss.  A discussion with the filmmaker will follow the screening. University of Hawaii at Manoa Spalding Auditorium, 2 p.m.

Dec. 5 – Light Up a Memory

In celebration of the start of the Christmas season, St. Francis Hospice presents its annual Light Up a Memory event. A personalized keepsake ornament will be given with each donation. St. Francis Hospice-The Sister Maureen Keleher Center in Nuuanu, 6 p.m. Call 547-8142 for more information.

March 2-5 – Becoming an Ethics Consultant Training Course

Individuals interested in the basic principles for understanding ethical issues in the clinical setting and in receiving hands-on consultant training will want to take this intensive four-day course. On March 6, there will be a “Meet the Professors – Ethics at the Bedside” session. St. Francis/Weinberg Medical Pavilion, Room 224. May 14 – Golf Healthy Challenge

It will be a fun day on the links when St. Francis Healthcare Foundation presents its eighth annual Golf Healthy Challenge at Kapolei Golf Course. Two flites, shotgun start. Sponsorship includes lunch, dinner and great prizes. Call 547-8030 for more information.

Evening Grief Class, third Tuesday of each month, 5:30-7:30 p.m., The Maurice J. Sullivan Family Hospice Center.  (no class in August and September)

 

Hospice Walk in the Mall, third Wednesday of each month, 8-9 a.m., Kahala Mall Center Stage.
